Randy Carroll Willis Jr., 52, Dies After Motorcycle Strikes Culvert on Shuford Road in Lincoln County
Randy Carroll Willis Jr. of Lincolnton died during a motorcycle crash on Shuford Road in Lincoln County at approximately 5:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Willis, 52, rode a 1997 Harley-Davidson southbound before crossing the center line, leaving the left side of the road, and striking a culvert near Buffalo Shoals Road.
The impact ejected Willis and sent the motorcycle into the front yard of a nearby home.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol troopers and emergency crews responded quickly, but responders pronounced Willis deceased at the scene.
Investigators reported that speed did not contribute to the crash and that no other vehicles were involved.
Willis wore a helmet that lacked Department of Transportation approval.
The Lincolnton community remembers Willis as more than a name in an official report, while family and friends mourn the sudden loss and cherish shared memories.
