Richard Rowell Jr., 18, Remembered After Fatal Incident in New London, Connecticut
Richard Rowell Jr., an 18-year-old New London resident, died following a fatal incident near 153 Garfield Avenue on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
New London police received reports of gunfire at approximately 12:04 p.m. and found Richard critically wounded inside a vehicle.
Emergency responders transported Richard to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced Richard dead shortly afterward.
Investigators said the incident did not appear random, although they had not identified a suspect or established a clear motive.
The New London Police Department, Connecticut State Police Major Crime Unit, and State’s Attorney’s Office continued investigating as officers documented evidence around the vehicle and temporarily closed the street.
Authorities asked anyone with relevant information to contact the New London Police Detective Bureau.
